Tong earned his Ph.D. from Brown University in 2023, under the supervision of Brenda Rubenstein. His doctoral research centered on the algorithmic development of Quantum Monte Carlo methods, with a specific focus on symmetry resolution in quantum many-body systems. This encompassed both finite temperature canonical ensemble formalisms and ground state entanglement measures. In September 2023, he joined Daniel Lidar’s group as a postdoctoral researcher. Currently, his research interests include open quantum dynamics and quantum error correction.
